STEAM
Our K-3 STEAM program encourages students to apply the 5 E model which is an instructional framework for teaching and learning that consists of five stages:
- Engage: Spark curiosity and interest.
- Explore: Hands-on learning and investigation.
- Explain: Make sense of experiences and concepts.
- Elaborate: Expand understanding and apply learning.
- Evaluate: Assess student progress and learning outcomes.
Students get to be curious and creative in various ways. STEAM stands for “Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.” Twice a week, Ms. Nancy meets K-3 classes and brings hands-on activities throughout the units. K-3 STEAM enrichment lessons sparks student’s imagination to step in the shoes of future STEM careers such as engineers and artists as they explore how physics is applied to every day decisions. Students work in teams to investigate various topics such as Newton’s Laws of Motion, inventions, gravity, and more. Your child deepens their understanding of science concepts that are aligned with the NGSS instruction in grades K-3 so that students can proficiently demonstrate STEM learning across other subjects.
